WHO WE ARE
Third Space Salon is the brainchild of established stylist Erica Rae, who envisioned a convenient, fun space that combines the luxury of a fashion-forward salon with the comfort and community of a neighborhood beauty shop.
Convenient to Tarrytown and downtown Austin, this modern salon in the historic Clarksville neighborhood is designed to be your “third space” – where you can go to relax, unwind and connect. Luxurious accommodations and a variety of customized beauty services await, including haircuts, hair styling and makeup application.
Inspired by an individual’s fashion sense, personality and lifestyle, Erica melds classic beauty with modern trends. Previously a master stylist at the award-winning ROAR Salon, Erica kicked off 2016 with the creation of Third Space Salon.
Since moving to Austin in 2000, Erica has established a loyal following of clientele, as well as a portfolio featuring fashion, runway, film and editorial work. Her extensive training includes Jacques Dessange, Vidal Sassoon Academy, Kerastase and Kevin Murphy.
At an early age, Ladda began recreating iconic images found in pop culture. Today, inspired by a woman’s chameleon-like ability to change her look with a little hair and makeup, she specializes in cutting, hair dressing and color, including the French technique balayage.
Ladda’s work has graced the pages of Modern Salon and the runways of New York Fashion Week for heavy-hitting designers like Zac Posen and Jason Wu. Formerly of Jose Luis Salon, she’s a member of the Kerastase Paris education team, a national TECH artist and certified in Global Keratin and Wella Hair Painting.
An Austin-based makeup artist for more than 15 years, Nisa gives her clients exactly what they want using the latest trends, styles, and products.
Nisa has earned awards, including Best Technique at the Austin Fashion Awards and the Couple’s Choice Award by Wedding Wire, and her work has graced the pages of publications like Brides magazine, SPIN, Martha Stewart Weddings, Southern Living, and Tribeza. JOE JAMES CAMARILLO
Joe James Camarillo is a master stylist and color specialist. He joins Third Space Salon after closing his popular Joe James Salon and Day Spa in Midland and selling his second namesake salon in Odessa, which is still open for business under his name.
Joe James has been doing hair since 1985. His Midland salon, which grew from six chairs to employing more than 40 stylists, estheticians and other employees, was chosen as one of the top 200 fastest growing salons in the United States by Salon Today.
Stacie is a native Austinite who came to the beauty industry after several years in the medical field. She is Third Space’s go-to curl guru and has become a huge fan of men’s hair and grooming, particularly beard and facial hair shaping. She is also a talented makeup artist and enjoys tailoring each look to the personality of her client.
Stacie received a strong foundation in cutting and color from Pivot Point and continued her education at Deva Curl and Wella. A frequent participant in photo shoots, Stacie’s work has been featured by Tribeza Magazine, Beauty Launchpad and KXAN’s Studio 512.
Beauty begins with Beau — a Fort Worth native specializing in stunning color and precise cuts. Since his start in 2003, his impressive career has included time as a Bumble and Bumble network educator, Hotheads extensions specialist and a certified Wella master colorist with Jose Luis.
From seamless layers and razor cuts to dimensional brunettes and striking blondes, Beau specializes in masterful transformations, however major or minor. His work has been showcased in Tribeza, Modern Salon and Texas Stylist.
Growing up in the world of musical theater and beauty pageants, Maddie experienced the endless possibilities that Austin has to offer. Her experience began 11 years ago with a full scholarship to the Aveda Institute of San Antonio and includes apprenticeships at Toni & Guy (TIGI) salon and Jose Luis Salon. She continues to learn the top trends and techniques and enjoys building personal connections with every client.
Maddie’s work has extended beyond the stylist’s chair and onto the pages of L Style/G Style, the runways of Tribeza Style Week and Austin Fashion Week, as well as countless weddings, photo shoots and catalog work.
Mel Martell’s career has been as diverse as the individuals who sit in her chair. In her 10+ years experience, she has worked with some of the best hairdressers in the industry — at photo shoots for well-known brands, in the chaos of New York Fashion Week, and while educating others on established product lines.
But Mel’s real love is the magic that happens in the salon. Inspired by structure and geometry, she loves adding movement into her work. Hand-painted highlights and subtle vibrant pops of color get her excited. She works well off pictures of inspiration and lifestyle cues to create wearable, maintainable looks.
Specializing in precision haircuts, balayage, and natural lived-in looks, Stevie takes pride in learning and honing his craft. He was trained by Toni & Guy International, mentored under Rainer Schneck (art director for Jose Eber), and worked as part of the educational team for Edmund James Salon in Palm Beach.
Stevie has styled hair for Tory Burch, made over the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, and assisted in designing looks for Barneys New York, Roberto Cavalli, Armani, and Diesel. His work has also appeared in Ocean Drive Magazine and InFluential Magazine.
